Azerbaijan quake also felt in Karabakh

An earthquake was recorded Friday in Azerbaijan, and it was also felt in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of Armenia informed that the seismological network of the ministry’s “Survey for Seismic Protection” Agency registered a tremor with a magnitude of 3.8, on Friday at 2:42pm local time, and its epicenter was in Azerbaijan. Its hypocenter was 10km beneath the surface.

Trump Ventures Among Evangelicals in Search for Votes

Manhattan billionaire Donald Trump, a pro-abortion Republican until recently, appears to have little in common with evangelical Christians. But he is increasingly gaining their support as he openly courts this key voting bloc.
Just two weeks out from the Iowa caucuses, Trump will speak Monday at Liberty University, a private school in Lynchburg, Virginia and an evangelical bastion. The visit coincides with a holiday commemorating civil rights leader Martin Luther King.

Uncertainty in Guatemala as new president takes office

GUATEMALA CITY (AP) — TV comic and political neophyte Jimmy Morales was elected as Guatemala's next leader last fall amid widespread anger over a graft scandal that brought down the previous president, and demands for reform to the crooked politics-as-usual. But as Morales prepares to be inaugurated Thursday, little is known about how exactly he plans to run this Central American nation beset by entrenched poverty, rampant corruption and violent criminal gangs, raising doubts about the new administration before it even begins. 

Liberty University, TRBC receive new zoning designation

Liberty University, Thomas Road Baptist Church and LU Candler Station Holdings, LLC will be the first holders of a relatively new zoning designation. During a public hearing Tuesday, Lynchburg City Council approved a petition from the entities to rezone multiple parcels totaling 752 acres from their current zoning classifications to the IN-2 institutional zoning district. LU and other colleges generally must submit development plans and seek conditional-use permits through City Council to build on campus.
