YEREVAN. – The year 2016 will be one of the most difficult ones in world politics, Armenian former MP Vardan Khachatryan said at a press conference on Monday. “We [i.e. Armenia], too, are at one of the bad spots, and in this case, I don’t think that there will be a quiet life,” Khachatryan noted. “A new decisive phase is approaching in the [Nagorno-]Karabakh [conflict] settlement issue, and it shows that the European organizations, based on
their interests, are attempting to ensure a balance between the Armenian and the Azerbaijani sides, alike.” In the ex-MP’s words, 2016 promises new regional developments as well. “It will be a year of ups and downs likewise in the region, in terms of both the settlement of the Karabakh issue, and domestic political developments,” Vardan Khachatryan stated. “The fact that Turkey has three [battle] fronts and there is a risk of a heated war will be added to all this.”
